13 Modern Ways to Dress up Your Pumpkin This Halloween

Hello again!

Looking to up your pumpkin game? Here are some fun and fresh ways to dress yours this Halloween - including some that will carry right on into Thanksgiving.

1. Paint it Black

Take the classic carved jack-o-lantern to the next level by spraying it black. So simple yet impactful!

2. Go for Gold

Because gold is everything. Need I say more? You can gold leaf it or just spray paint it - it really doesn't get much easier than spray paint (just remember, more light coats is better than fewer heavy coats).

3. White it Out

This one's got staying power to easily transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving. You can buy them white or paint them white. Bonus points for a mass arrangement and for working in some gold accents.

4. Chalk Paint It

This one's for all the Annie Sloan fanatics out there - you know who you are. I love how it transforms a plain-jane grocery store pumpkin into a fancy heirloom look-a-like!

5. Arrange It

How gorgeous is this autumnal arrangement? This would make a great centerpiece to take you right up to Thanksgiving.

6. Succulent It

Succulents are super lower maintenance and this is another one that can easily stay through Thanksgiving. I like how bright and fresh this palette is, and it's a nice break from all the autumnal hues.

7. Be a Unicorn

Eek! So cute!

8. Make it Punny

I love a good pun. If you have decent handwriting, you could totally just freehand this.

9. Colorblock It

Not only is colorblocking such a modern approach, it's also a great way to use up any random leftover paint you might have lurking around.

11. Mudcloth It

If you've already got some accent pillows in this motif, why not extend it onto your gourds?

12. Paint Splatter It

Channel your inner Jackson Pollack and get your splatter on. I like that there's no need to be too fussy - embrace the randomness! How tres chic is this palette?

13. Stay Classic

Then and again, the classics are the classics for a reason. Embrace the colors of the season and group orange mums and orange pumpkins en-masse for a classic autumnal statement.

Until next time!
