Baby Room - Part 4: A Little Hack

Now that the room has been painted and the ceiling got a little decorative love, it was time to start bringing in the furniture and get this makeover moving along. We also saved a few bucks along the way with our Spend or Save dresser choice.

Here's the Save dresser in real life and she's looking pretty good. Even with Save versions I always like to check for quality of construction and materials, and this one was predominantly solid wood.

Notice the little giraffe? That was one of the inspiration pieces for the zoo theme!

The dresser will provide loads of storage is definitely the workhorse of the design -- the top drawer will be great for storing changing supplies and little things, while the 4 larger drawers will hold plenty of onsies, swaddles, and much more. But, I wanted to bring in some open storage elements as well and that was going to be achieved with this shelf unit.

Since the room doesn't have a closet that also meant no hanging space, and while infants certainly don't have a lot of clothes that require hanging, I still wanted to have a space for those special occasion and dress up pieces. A simple little hack, and here's the bookshelf reimagined!

Because tutus are meant to be shown off! And check out those fancy schmancy little boots!

The top portion provides a little space for hanging, the middle shelf holds books, and the bottom portion is currently styled to show off some fancy shoes but will likely transition to hold a couple tall baskets for toys.

What do you think?
